Hey,
well lots has happened since I last blogged. Well, yes we got our Solo results back and I must say that I think I agree with pretty much all the (constructive) criticism on the sheet. To be fair to myself though, it was my very first Solo and I was the only person in the class to get a 5 for something, so that I am pleased with. and the fact that I passed!! he he he, so I now know what I need to keep working on….and at PT interviews I mentioned that, so yeah…..
We also got our Destin SACS back and I knew that I didn’t do so well on that….so yeah I wasn’t surprised with the result, but again at that time I wasn’t really familiar with everything and all the terms we had to mention, but I think I have since improved….so lets hope I have!!!
We have started work on our ensembles and I am in a group with Jess, Jacqui, Laura and Nadia, the most funniest group ever….I think I am the quietest member (thats not hard cos I am pretty quiet but still….)!!! The theme for our ensemble work is “technological revolution” so our group has been toying around with ideas and every few seconds someone comes up with a witty remark and we burst out laughing and get carried away then we get back to work (at least I think thats how it goes) and yeah, it’s actually quite hard, but we ARE getting there!!! All’s good I think
Peace out guys xoxox
Well the last two performed theirs, and yeah…..here r my reviews:
Jacqui: well done on going first lol!! Nice idea of a sulbculture…new mum aww!!! I loved your accent and how the baby was a cloth it was so cute!!! I know how weird it is but it made me think of how much new mums (and mums in general) go through HA HA…but anyway it was good as, so well done:D
Chloe: Great nerd you were!!! Liked your use of secondary characters ( i thought it was interesting) and your costume was great especially the green (i think it was green…) jumper and the way how your hair was done like 2 mins before the performance by almost everyone in the class!!! NIIIIICEEEEE work mate:D
At the end of the class Cashy made us do a self assessment and made us be honest with ourselves…i’ll tell you now i thought i was pretty honest and said that there were so many things i needed to work on and some things i thought i did alright at. Tomorrow we find out our marks and on fri we found out no one failed, but no one got A+ or A or B+, so the scores range from C+ to B, so I am officially proud to say I didn’t fail:D
Peace out mates and p.s SAVE WATER hahaha that was random
well yeah, now I just have to think who else has performed that i have missed…
Heather: I liked what your solo was about and how your character was in a mosh pit:D That’s my idea of a perfect life he he he…having been in a mosh pit and being a fan of music I truly think you played the character extra well and the tension was really noticeable…nice work mate:D
Jess M: Great Aussie accent and mannerisms! You had so much humor in yours and it was so funny (well duh.) I liked your use of the Hawthorn Jumper and the beer stuff, as props. Nice work on the use of the stage and your diction was clear and loud! Great use of stagecraft as well. Very nice mate:D
ok now to people who performed Tuesday:
Tara: LOL Your performance was a classic! I thought your costume was very appropriate and your actions were so funny but so clever! Again, mentioning the use of the stage just like in Jess’ performance, I thought your stage presence was awesome. Seriously, I was after you and I was like so nervous thinking “ok how am i going to make mine look that good?!?!?!?!” so yeah, nice work:D
:D
Laura: I like the fact you went to so much trouble for your costume that you actually ripped up your Dad’s shirt! Lovely! Ha hahaaha, seriously, you reminded me a bit of Oliver (trust me that is a compliment) I thought also that your script, even tho it took lotsa planning, well the finished product was well written…it was evident how much work you put into it:D
Adriana: Your character Bobby reminded me so much of Alison Hannigan’s character in American Pie (take that as a compliment i love those films) The thing I remember mostly about your performance was when you played recorder and shook your ‘maraccas.’ I thought the timing was very effective. I also thought you acted the part of Bobby being excited (i mean your performance was acted well but this part stood out for me) about going to band camp, I pretty much believed it was really happening!!!
Well yeah, hope I didnt leave anyone out…sorry if I did!!! To Jacqui and Chloe…all the best for your solo’s (I’m sure they will be just as good) lol just think if I can do it (me…Felicity) so can you…well so can anyone really
so yeah, cheers and peace out duuddddeeesss (keep smiling:):):))
Hey guys, lol since I was a bit bored tonight I decided to write a blog (i been walking around all day at chaddy) so yeah if I leave you out (i’ll try not to) sorry if I do!
First of all everyone was good! there were diff parts of everyone’s performances that I liked…
Jess P: as I previously mentioned I think you have a lot of guts to be the first person to perform their solo this year and you did a superb job as a wog! Loved your accent and everything
Maddy: Your portrayal of the nerd was great as!! Seriously I liked the use of the calculator and the pants you wore suited the character well! Very noticeable tension too
Boxy: I used to be known as a bit of a teeny-bopper (i dont think I am as much now) and yeah, the role you played was spot on!! I couldn’t help trying not to laugh while you sang Barbie Girl though because my friend and I rewrote a funny version of it. But yes, tension was awesome and I liked how you danced around and were excited about BSB:D
Nadia: As I have previously mentioned…loved your use of symbol and your accent was awesome as! I thought it was also an interesting idea to be a greaser….something that I don’t think many people would do, so good on you for trying something different…it worked as well!
Leah: Loved the costume and your change of character was just hilarious! The improved use of the locker was very creative too, and as you can tell not many of us i dont think even noticed the locker part would have been improvised…so yeah good stuff:D
I have to go now cos of dinner but I promise to review everyone elses…
PEACE OUT guys….and be proud of our ANZACS lol ok that was really random xoxox
Well well well today was my big day…and I was so nervous! I don’t know if you know this…but I am quite harsh on myself most of the time (then again it is believed you are your own worst critic) but yeah I dont seem to think I did that well…but all the same it was so much fun….and I was glad to hear some of you laughing!! It was so hard not to break my focus when people were laughing while I was explaining the symbol of the sunflowers to the tune of Let The Sunshine In!! But it was good all the same…
Back to everyone else who has performed (ok pretty much the whole class except for a couple of people) your performances rocked! I especially liked Jess’s Wog accent and thought she must have a lot of guts to go first! I also liked Nadia’s performance and (I know it sounds odd) but I liked how she blinded herself with the headband(i think it was a headband) But yeah I noticed specific things in everyone’s performances that I thought were great…so yeah good work guys!:D Well, about my performance, I was so nervous about doing it that I forgot one of the two dramatic elements I chose when Cashy asked me what they were….and yeah I think I made a few minor mistakes with stuffing up lines and guitar chords but I don’t think people noticed (well I certainly HOPE not hahahaha)
Now I’m just nervous about the mark I will be getting! Cashy told me that he gave me a good mark for Stage craft(I think he said stage craft) and said my costume was good…so that’s a good thing YAY!! To be honest with you, as Genelle (I don’t know how to spell her name) and Kelly said to us when they visited our class a few months ago, about Cashy being a hard marker and that’s what gave them the motivation to get that A+….I can understand now how they felt! I am unsure if I did THAT well…but I found it was homework that I actually wanted to do for once (come on watching “Hair” for homework is pretty fun) aside from that it was also a good excuse to say that I had done some homework(but that IS beside the point)
So yeah once again…everyone has done really, extremely well on their solo’s so far…I must say after I did it, it felt like a huge weight was lifted off me…so yeah…all’s good (except for the nerves of wondering what my mark is:D)
Peace out
OMG P.S isn’t it just ironic that my solo of being a Hippie and all anti war…just happened to be the day before ANZAC day??? oh and BTW HIPPIES RULE :D:D:D
Ok well its been awhile since I have last posted…but yeah, althroughout yesterday and today we went and saw Top Acts (all the VCE Year 12 Drama students who got full marks last year) and to be honest with you, before the excursions, some current year 12’s and cashy told us that we’d be scared because they were so good…and I didn’t really believe them until the first girl that was on today. I know not many of you probably got that feeling from her…but I did and I was like shaking almost!!! I was like “WHOAHHHHHHH” We were only there for about an hour and a half or so but I left earlier because Adri had netball and I had a lift with her. Our main reason to go and see Top Acts was not only to get some more inspiration, but to support one of our past students from last year and she received the most cheers! She was just awesome!!! I only also found out this week that my second cousin was also in Top Acts…so i was even more like “WHHOOOAAAAAAAAHHHH” and yeah hahahahaha….I actually bumped into her father and we chatted for a bit which was good as. Personally, I reckon if I were to choose outta those 10 characters I think I would have chosen the Pirate (not only because it gives u an excuse to watch Johnny Depp for homework!) but because that character interested me:D The only annoying thing about seeing Top Acts would have to be that the compare kept coming on after every performance! I know it was his job and that he got a different audience every concert…but we heard the same instructions from the same guy 3 times (twice yesterday and once today) about ‘don’t leave anything out…’ ‘anything with an ’s’ on the end means plural” I know it was vital info and prob good to hear it but I swear I could almost know it off by heart…
So yeah, seeing these definately did help me with my solo on Tuesday, at first I wasn’t actually sure about how to actually go about doing a secondary character…but after watching other ppl’s solo’s in my class and watching top acts..I have more of an idea. To be honest also, i was kind of regretting having my solo on the tuesday, so I could have had it done already and that I thought after seeing Top Acts that people might have different expectations (stupid of me i know but i get stupid when i get nervous!!!) but yeah i rehearsed it tonight in front of family and Mum said it was the best she’s ever seen it…so hopefully it all goes well:D
Alright, so, PEACE OUT guys…
HIPPIES RULE
Hey guys,
well as you can tell it is exactly a week til I shall perform my solo. I was bored the other day (I have spent most of my hols lookin at formal pics and chatting to friends) so I decided to have like a dress rehearsal and actually time my performance. It actually turned out that it went for like 11 mins…so how happy was I? not very…it meant I had to take out my part in the script where I would talk about Hendrix and all that…because it can make sense without all that. as not happy as I was to take it out…that’s how tough life is….
So yes from now on until next Thursday I shall keep practicing among enjoy what is left of my holiday…..
PEACE OUT HIPPIES RULE
P.S o and BTW I finished doing my sign (that means painting and designing etc) I just need to tape the wood on the back…and I will probably do that at School as I can’t really transport a huge sign with wood on the back on the bus….
Love Flicky Flower HIPPIE POWER
wow its been aaaaaaaaggggggggggeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssss since I last posted on here. Well, we had our formal last Friday n everyone looked really really good! Hope ya all had a great time….anyways, getting back onto it, I havent’t had much time to sit and add some more stuff to my script, its all just been in my head BUT I have been shopping for sunflowers! Mum and I went to the Warehouse the other day and looked (with great difficulty) for sunflowers. After explaining ten times or so to her that I needed sunflowers (she didn’t seem to understand why I specifically needed sunflowers) for my symbol, I think she finally understood. We looked around and I grabbed excitedly what I thought were Sunflowers then the lady came past and Mum asked her to be sure and it turns out they were Daisys!! DRATS!! well, I’m not dumb I do know the difference between sunflowers and Daisy’s but yeah….I don’t know how i got them muddled up….
Anyways, so after great difficulty and many hours we eventually gave up for the day (We didn’t just give up at the warehouse, we went to Brandon Park and also went to the shopping centre near the warehouse on stud road etc)
But yeah, I got a call a few hours ago from Mum saying that she finally found me some sunflowers! YAY!!!! so yeah, that’s my excitement of the day…I don’t think this is relevant (well it kind of is) but since I am a Hippie i thought I’d mention I watched the Hippie episode of South Park and yeah that kind of gave me some ideas too. hahaha
Happy Easter if I don’t post again before Easter…PEACE OUT and REMEMBER: HIPPIES RULE
Well, yeah, last lesson we had more working time on our performances and I spent my time acting it out (Duh) and then decided i need loads more of script, so I wrote more of my script last lesson, and asked Cashy more questions about approving the newer parts of my script and also if you can ever blog in too much detail? Cos I tend to think I just write a lot, which I am very good at doing, but yeah, he said mine have actually been nice and lengthy so yay:D
About the actual performance…I dont think I mentioned (maybe i did but i’ll just say it again) that Mum said she will take me one day to this warehouse thing ( i have no idea where it is) and we will get sunflowers from there for my performance…
So far I have two symbols in my performance, One being the peace sign for obvious reasons, and the other being ’sunflowers’ as in if the imaginary character goes to war it will be like taking the SUNSHINE out of his life:D hahaha
Anyhow, I think that is me up to scratch….OH OH OH AND BTW, before I forget, the reason why this is titled inspired is cos we watched some older students doing solo’s for Top Acts, and the girl from our school was really awesome, as was the other guy we watched…he was really funny.. ok yeha im done now:D
PEACE OUT HIPPIES ROCK:D
Hey, so yeah since yesterday our class has officially started acting our solos (about time too) and yeah…so, my script is pretty good, except I am going to be adding a few more changes, well i have already decided that I will point out that there’s a homeless guy in my script, and explain to the guy goin’ to war that why should he waste his life like that, when there are people out there who would love to have the life this guy has, and this guy is just wasting it. I thought during International Politics (it was period 4 today and as you all know today was o so cold(note the sarcasm) that i thought about Hitler because, u know we were studying all these countries and what did Hitler do? exactly)So, i thought maybe i could say something along the lines of ” Wouldn’t rather live and know that you met someone nice and raised a family and lived to tell the tale, rather than go to War and be known for killing people, and maybe so, being killed yourself? Something like that…
I also watched Laura’s solo, and i cant remember exactly what she is but i think she is some kind of homeless person…anyhow, i thought it was pretty good, I suggested an action for her to do but it turned out she was just about to use it!!! damn i didn’t come up with the idea first:P I also helped Adri with like one line for her solo as a band geek….
I also had a few questions to ask Cashy, it kind of sucks that the songs I am using can only be about 30secs or something, then again I do have to fit enought dialogue in my script to meet the criteria for the assessment. O well, thats life….
I can’t remember if i mentioned in my last post that while i was at my other drama class (saying anything and everything on my opinion of george bush very passionately) my mum went and found me a Vest!! YAY o how lovely of her
So yeah my costume is complete now, well I cant think of anything else I would need…
Anyhow that is all i have to say…so yeah, PEACE DUDES!!!!
