Hey all, well, as you can all tell by the headline (i’d be worried if you couldn’t :P) I had to make a new script up for my solo. Mainly because I had one written up and got Cashy to check it, and he explained to me (and later to the whole class) that I got it just a tad mixed up… I kind of knew that but my script had things in it like “I believe in Peace and Love” and blah blah blah, I didn’t realise I wasn’t supposed to say that, that I was actually supposed to SHOW that in my performance…so scratch the idea of that script…although it did take me sometime but o well that’s life….
I came up with a new one last night and just wrote down more things on it today in class, and again cashy read it and now i have the right sort of idea (YAY:D) it still involves some of the stuff I mentioned in the last post about me playing Guitar and the songs and the use of sunflowers, but in a totally different way…
Again my drama teacher outside of school helped me today…I had mentioned to him that I had written my script and after the class, he got me to pretend George Bush was in the room, and that I could say anything I want to “George Bush” about his decision on the War in Iraq….so basically I yelled and vented out all this anger to an invisible Bush in a chair and I got to say anything I want….I know this may sound very odd, but it was an exercise that my teacher used, explaining to me that that’s how deeply passionate Hippies are against War, and he said that when I get to that part of my performance I should use that excerise as my triggure.
So yeah that’s pretty much me up-to-date…we will be acting on Thursday (not to the class, just practicing) and….yeah

Well I think the last time I left off, I hadn’t really prepared my script. Well, yes I do have a plan of it now and have started writing it, it’s all coming good (I hope anyway). So yeah, Tuesday I had my Guitar lesson and now I know how to play Bob Dylan YAY:D hahahaha
Yeah, I don’t know if I have mentioned also, I go to an afterschool drama class every Tuesday, so I thought it might be handy to ask my Drama teacher there for some tips. He was actually pretty useful and recommended I watch a film called the Big Bisowski ( i dont know how to spell it) I have never heard of it but it doesn’t surprise me that he would know, considering he has done some film and T.V work and directing…
My mum also got some cardboard for one of my Protest signs, and i have begun drawing lightly in pencil, a PEACE symbol on it
I also recorded songs off the internet onto a CD for my performance, a little part of the Age of Aquarius will be playing as backround music while I am busy protesting… then I’ll say lots of stuff to you all, then I will play good ole’ Bob Dylan on my guitar along with the cd…
Oh and btw I’ve decided I’m not going to be ‘travelling in a kombi” as part of my performance, I’ve decided to just protest then after a min or so, just talk to you all and probably mention somehow how i got there and what i believe in, and then play good ole’ bob dylan on the guitar, then I have this idea of having my finale to let the sun shine in and give you all sun flowers while that is playing, as a symbol for you all to ‘let the sun shine in your life” and then finish, but i might add something in before finishing…we will have to wait and see….

Well, as you can all tell, I have a drama solo coming up. A few lesson’s ago we received the criteria for what we are required to do (a 5 min solo, our character being a person from a particular “sub-culture”). From the minute we were given it, I started brainstorming ideas. I had this idea which I thought would be great but later on found out it doesn’t really meet the criteria…
So, I went home and searched up on wikipedia for some ideas. man that site is helpful! So, I decided to play a Hippie:D I printed off some information and the next lesson was spent highlighting a good deal of it and coming up with random ideas of how i could do my performance. I thought that I could possibly begin off by protesting, and then hitch a ride in a kombi van to woodstock. That is definately a possibility, or I protest, then do some meditation (Hippies love that stuff) and then go to woodstock….
We have been unable to have valuable solo practice time in class due to the fact that we saw an awesome Uni play and have been discussing about that and what our SAC will be like on Tuesday.
In the meantime though, to research and think of more good ideas, I went to my local video store and rented out the musical HAIR and took notes while watching it on how they acted, dressed and what language they used. I also researched and found on google, a Hippie “dictionary” and famous Hippie quotes, for example “Make Peace, not War.” Youtube was also a very valuable site for me while researching because it had numerous videos of numerous Hippies meditating, and a performance by Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock in ‘69, plus slideshows of all their trademark slogans.
Today, I went to my local Salvation Army Store and started shopping for my costume. I bought a handmade Handbag that goes over my shoulder and its very colourful. I also bought a dress with Flower designs all over it, a flowery belt which I am going to tie around my forehead, as well as a blue cushion with flowers on it. I thought it was a bargain, all of that for under $10, so if you ever need a good costume, go to your local Salvos:D
I also have some huge Flowery earrings,beady necklaces, beady bracelets, sandals and a shirt to go under the dress, all from home. I pretty much have my whole outfit, i just need a vest.
Went to JB-Hi Fi today and had a browse and found the HAIR soundtrack for only $10, so, yes I purchased that as well, and I think I will use some of that music at various times during my performance.
That is pretty much everything up to date, I will bring the CD to my next Guitar lesson therefore I can practice my chosen music for the performance.
Ideas have occurred in my head as to what will be in my script for the performance, but at this stage I haven’t actually written a whole script of dialogue yet. I have this idea where I want to make it funny, as well as informing and interesting. Hopefully that will work:P
